Chairman Message
From the Chairman's Desk

The Chenab College of Education is completing 26 years successfully and indeed it’s a matter of pleasure and deep satisfaction. Ever since the inception of the College in the year 1999 under the aegis of ‘Chenab Education Trust’ the college has made steady progress. The college got its ISO certification in the year 2012 and its first ever NAAC Accreditation Certification in the year 2014. The session 2024-26 is in progress and the college management, is fully geared up to ensure the quality of education and the welfare of students by all means.
All along these years, the College has witnessed the change of guard/Vice Chancellors in the Jammu University from Prof. R.R. Sharma, Prof. Amitabh Mattoo, Prof. Varun Sahni, Prof. R.D. Sharma, Prof. M.P. Singh Ishar, Prof. M.K. Dhar and now Prof. Umesh Rai as Vice-Chancellors of the Jammu University.
We have no doubt in mind that Prof. Umesh Rai, our new Vice-Chancellor, a renowned educationist having a vast experience in the field will ensure that the Jammu University becomes an excellent center of learning and a vibrant hub of cultural and extra curricular activities that benefits from the diverse & excellent traditions of Jammu region and its civil society.
During this journey of 26 years, the College made an excellent progress in Infrastructure facilities as well as in academics. Besides, ample opportunities for extra curricular activities and field exposure always remained at the center of the focus for all-round and harmonious development of the trainees. Starting with a meager number of 110 students in 1999, the college made multidimensional progress and kept on marching ahead on the road to quality education. The enrollment consistently remained in between 325 to 379 with little up and down until 2015 when the new curriculum got introduced with the introduction of semester system and 02 yrs duration of B.Ed. degree. It is not out of place to mention here that the college is one among the most popular institutions of the area.
The college has made excellent progress on various fronts with a sanctioned intake capacity of 150 students and many good practices in place such as help to poor & needy students, scholarships to deserving students and merit cum means prizes to meritorious students also grant of seed money to staff members perusing research and maternity leave to staff (wherever applicable).
My best wishes to all the stakeholders and family of Chenab College of Education, I hope that this exercise will surely infuse confidence and creativity amongst the teachers and students.
